New Tradition

John, the kids and I had a very enjoyable Easter this past Sunday. The kids had a great time sorting through their baskets from the Easter Bunny and Grandma Terry. Then we decided to head out and create a new family tradition for Easter. We went to the zoo. We thought that it would be a fun place to go on Easters when the weather permits. On Easters when the weather isn't as nice we will go to the aquarium. I thought that this would be a good alternative to basing our family tradition on a sit-down meal since Avery has many food aversions aside from the foods that she is allergic to. It turned out to be a successful plan this year. We all had a blast! We'll have to see how it goes in the future.

Madden's Bed

On Thursday Madden decided that the best way to get out of taking his nap was to start jumping out of his crib. Needless to say we had to switch his crib over to a big boy bed. He looks happy in the picture, but it's been a struggle (to say the least) to get him to go down for a nap or go to sleep at night. Hopefully the novelty of the freedom will wear off soon.

Zoo

We have been enjoying the outdoors this past week thanks to the warmer weather we've been having. This past Wednesday, the kids and I took a trip to the Denver Zoo. Unfortunately John was stuck at work. Avery and Madden had a great time. Madden made friends with a giant turtle. They were following each other through the glass. Avery can't seem to choose a favorite animal she loves them all.

Nieces and Nephews

I just wanted to share a picture that Avery and Madden took with some of their cousins this past December. It was nice to have a picture of all of our nieces and nephews together from John's half of the family.

A Very Merry Christmas

We hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas as much as we did. Avery was so excited for Santa's impending arrival on Christmas Eve that she put herself to bed at 8:30! When the kids awoke on Christmas morning they were delighted to see all of their gifts from family, friends and Santa (of course). We had a great holiday season filled with love and fun with family and friends. Happy New Year to each and every one of you!
